The Job: Business Analyst Intern

The Challenge:

Probatech (parent company of Probacure) is a consultancy and networking company founded to make sure that new opportunities in the life sciences are explored to their full potential. We do this by bridging the early-stage innovation gap ‒ by connecting pharma companies and investors with start-ups developing new drugs, vaccines or platform technologies.

We are unsettled by the fact that many diseases are without treatments or vaccines, mainly because of a lack of guidance and a lack of connection between the best science and the best resources.  To change this situation, we carry out research and analysis to give our clients guidance on what to study, and we establish links between stakeholders who share common goals.

We are looking for one or two Business Analyst interns to help us to achieve this. We would like someone to work with us for 3 months initially, with the potential for work in the future. You will need to be available for a minimum of 32 hours a week. This is an opportunity to impact the development of novel drugs or vaccines, whilst learning how to research, interpret and analyse information that is used to drive decisions in the pharmaceutical industry. You will be working directly with an experienced team, who are all trained in the life sciences and have experience supporting cutting-edge startups and top 10 pharma companies alike.

What we're looking for:

  • Your Skillset:
    • Education/training in the life sciences with an undergraduate (minimum, e.g. BSc) or advanced degree (bonus, e.g. MSc or PhD)
    • Comfortable with technology, with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite at a minimum
    • Some knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry
    • Fluent in English (other languages are a bonus)
    • Bonus: Prior experience with business analysis, consulting or data science
    • Bonus: Experience in a pharma/biotech startup or in an investor environment
  • Your availability:
    • At least 32 hours per week
    • Remote working
    • Working hours are flexible, but should cover at least 4 hours within the hours of 9am - 6pm
  • You:
    • Are a quick learner, and adaptable to new concepts and different tasks
    • Have great attention to detail
    • Are a self-starter
    • Share our values:
      • Openness
      • Scientific mindset
      • Honesty
      • Reliability
      • Community
      • Game-changing

What you'll be doing:

In Month 1, you will begin to:

  • Learn more about R&D in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Become familiar with key players in the pharma and biotech ecosystem
  • Learn how to interpret, analyse and report information that can change the fortunes of healthcare innovators
  • Learn the basics of Business Development and Venture Capital in the Pharmaceutical Industry
  • Discover new tools and tricks for the automation of your research and for project management

By Month 3, you will:

  • Hone your analytical and strategic skills for use in different contexts
  • Build advanced reports to guide customers towards successful outcomes
  • Contribute to Probatech’s thought leadership program and provide research on broad industry trends
  • Manage small projects and learn how they fit into the wider team's work
  • Support Probatech’s internal operations

Opportunities:

  • Work in a startup environment and contribute to the building of a company
  • Contribute to the success of companies developing new cures and vaccines

    • Include the phrase “I have seen everything” in your answer to question #6
  • We will then follow-up with a short video interview with shortlisted applicants
